Hi friends! It's been a long time since I posted, I've been feeling a bit stuck with my art and distracted by side quests including sewing a prom dress for my daughter 😁.

I managed to unblock and create these pages using photos from our trip to Tenerife. I'm actually really pleased with these because I managed to free myself from over-reliance on references and use a good amount of imagination and simplification here. 😎

It also helped to take the composition course from @ema_malyauka and think about that while designing the layout. ❤️

These drawings are a mashup between @emmacarlisle_ 's zoom in panel session and @ema_malyauka 's composition course! This market scene was a great example to try working on adjusting the centre of attention. The very last image was taken directly from the photo without paying any attention to the focus. For the others I tried to make it more intentional.

A-Z of animals with @katie_moody ! This was such a

A-Z of animals with @katie_moody ! This was such a fun session, 4 minutes per animal which I just about managed with gouache and then pencil/neocolor on top (although i did have to swap back a forth a bit to account for drying time). Animals are outside my comfort zone so I'm actually pretty happy with how these turned out! And I learned that pigs and hippos are surprisingly fun to draw! 🐖

These landscapes are based on some of the scenic shots from the David Attenborough documentary "Wild London" which is such a visual treat! I haven't even got round to drawing the wildlife yet. The bottom view is such an interesting one, it took us a few hours yesterday evening to figure out what the little dome with the lights is and how it could possibly have a view of St Paul's cathedral in the background.

These are wet-in-wet gouache which I'd never tried before. It's certainly a good way of loosening up because you can't easily control where the paint goes.

Loose wintery landscapes and tree portraits from @ema_malyauka 's December course. I've been finding myself stuck when using photo references recently and this was really helpful to start to break out of that trap. Unfortunately just as I'm starting to get out of my art slump it's very nearly time to go back to work!
